Popular for being a former swimsuit model and a passionate animal activist, Laura Guttridge has many other talents and capabilities. Laura Guttridge has worked hard for protecting and saving animals since she was a child. She is the founder and past president of Marion County Voices for Animals which is a small animal rights group based in Ocala, Florida. Presently, she is on the Board of Directors for The Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, a group that has been working to help protect and promote animals since 1989. The Animal Rights Foundation has been experimenting with different methods for spreading awareness among the public to make them aware about the suffering of animals. These different methods include letters to the editors, demonstrations and outreach events, sending spokespersons to radio and TV shows, etc.
She recently came out with a book for children called Gypsy The Christmas Cat which teaches children about compassion, patience and trust. It is based on a real character, a cat named Gypsy. It sends a message to all children that all animals deserve love, affection and a home. Laura’s lifelong activism to protect animals is reflected from her book. The Humane Society of Vero Beach awarded her with The 2007 Humanitarian Of The Year Award for her constant dedication to protect animals.
